Last year we kicked off birthday week by taking Finn to his first movie in the theater, Toy Story 3, and subsequently scarring him for life.
Cars 2 just happened to come out last week, perfect timing for birthday week viewing! This year was much less traumatizing! I had heard that the Autism Society hosts a movie once a month where they turn down the sound, don’t turn off the lights completely and don’t show previews! I thought this would be perfect because last year Finn was scared and crying by the time the previews ended. For the last few days we were watching the movie trailers and talking about how there would be explosions and shooting and bad guys but that McQueen and Mater would be OK!
So ALL FIVE of us packed up and headed to the movie! And we had friends come too! Finn did get a little scared and he hopped into daddy’s lap, and subsequently Riley did too! But we made it through the whole movie and there was no crying! Well, Kellen, who slept through almost all of it, did cry a little at the end. LOL!
