All About Finn Update

:::WARNING: PROUD MOMMA BRAGGING MOMENT:::

When I picked Finn up from school I asked him about the “All About Me” project and if they went through everyone’s in the class and he said yes but then added “But mine was BORING” (a new word he seems to be using a lot lately that is absolutely killing me)….what?  what do you mean boring?  how was it boring?  I’m dying to know what the other kids did for theirs that weren’t boring! 

So then the next day I’m talking to one of the room mothers who I see at the gym often and we’re chatting and she mentions the project and about how she had started to help her daughter but then had to force herself to step away.  So then I told her what Finn said about his being boring and asked what hers looked like and if she’d seen any others.  She hadn’t seen any others, but she said hers was shaped like a train and she put a few other fun touches on it that I thought must have been what Finn was referring to.

Fast forward to today, I run into the same mom at the gym again and she said she was in volunteering yesterday and that she talked to the teacher about them and the teacher said that Finn had the best presentation of his!  That he is normally so quiet but he stood up there, all nice and tall and proud and clearly spoke about every single thing on his collage!

Also, we had Finn’s parent-teacher conference last week and his teacher gushed about how Finn is a “joy to teach” and what a sweet caring boy he is.  How he is eager to learn, isn’t disruptive and is helpful to the teachers and his classmates!

We could not be any more proud of our oldest little man!

Golf In Motion

Todd went with Finn for his first week of golf and I got to go this past weekend!  They were able to hit the course this time and I got some videos!  Also, even though Finn is a lefty, it turns out he is more comfortable golfing righty!

He’s Happy and He Knows It!

Sleepovers

Mommy and Daddy were able to move mountains and get a night away from the littles!  Uncle Buzz took Finn and Riley and our friends Mike & Kathleen took Kellen while mommy and daddy spent the night at the Four Seasons!  It was glorious!

The boys were SO excited, they came bounding out of their rooms on Saturday morning and immediately started packing!

We had a great dinner and evening out and were able to sleep in the next day and go to brunch at normal brunch time!!!

We cannot thank our friends enough for helping us make this happen!  It was a short break, but it was glorious!  (Pretty sure the boys didn’t want to come home either!)

Kellen is 17 Months Old!

Its starting to get tricky trying to remember how old he is, LOL!  I’ve always counted in months until they hit 2, but I might not be doing that much longer this time!  BUT, I have been jotting down little things about him that I just wanted to remember!

Every day when I brush my teeth, as soon as I turn on my electric toothbrush, Kellen comes running from wherever he was and stands next to me and holds my hand.  I now have the cleanest teeth in the world.

He is talking alot lately!  Apple, Wafffle, Cheese, Snack, Help, Up (he’s never going to say down though), Buh-bye, ball (obsessed), the list goes on and on.  But he also now can say Buzz!  Eeep!  It is so cute to hear him say and he just absolutely loves Uncle Buzz!

He nods his head yes or no and makes a Yes or No sound, but not quite the words

He LOVES Sophie the giraffe.  It is just adorable how he holds on to her neck and then nuzzles her against his belly.

He loves to snuggle and hug all stuffed things and says “mmm” when he hugs and kisses them and burries his face in their bellies!

He gives the best little kisses and makes the “mmmmwah” sound when he does.  I.die.every.time.

He’s counting!  We play alot of hide and seek in this house and so now he will stand there, with his hands over his mouth (instead of his eyes! so cute!) and makes sounds that sound like “one, two, three”.  It is unbelievably cute!

The other day we were playing hide and seek and I was hiding and all three boys could not find me (I really wasn’t even hiding that well!) but they’re running around going “momma?  momma?”  and Kellen was too.  and since then he has been deliberately calling for me, “momma, momma”, it is just heart melting!

he has started watching TV a little bit.  I’m not entirely sure how I feel about it, but I thought this little couch potato was too cute not to photograph!

We’ve been consistently going to Toddlercize lately and he is really getting into the songs now!  He LOVES “Happy and You Know It”, “Wheels on the Bus” and this cute little version of “Row Row Row Your Boat” that they do (Row your boat, Fly your plane, Drive your car and Ride your bike).  Its really cute to see his excitement and to see him act out the motions!  (Working on a video!)

He is really into trying to use a spoon and a fork now, so much to the point that if I don’t give him one, there are certain foods he won’t even try to eat!

He has started saying “agua” when he wants water.  We don’t speak Spanish so I have no idea where he picked this up!  Ha!

He is a jumper!  He wants to jump all the time, everywhere!  He does this cute little thing with his arms when he is trying to jump off of something, he swings them back and forth, kind of like swimmers do when they first get up on the blocks. 

He now has 9 teeth!  He’s got his front 8 (4 top, 4 bottom) but in a painstakingly painful amount of time he grew in one of his giant molars.  It is HUGE.  And it is awesome because it looks funny when he is laughing or smiling and you can see that one giant tooth amongst a lot of gum!

All About Finn

Finn’s first school project was to create an “All About Me” collage.  So I sat down with him and asked him what all of his favorite things were:

Cars was first and foremost!

His Stuffties!

Soccer

Swinging

Playing outside and exploring

Riding his bike, especially riding to school

Reading stories, specifically Berenstain Bears Books.

He said he also liked to watch Dinosaur Train and Curious George so I grabbed two pictures of that from the internet and a family picture and we set to work!  He choose where everything went, I wrote the “I love to” part and he filled in cars/soccer/etc….and lastly he decorated with some stickers.  This was the completed project!!!

 

I also got the opportunity to have lunch at school with Finn last week!

He also made this “awesome” sun visor at school!  I think it is hilarious because it doesn’t fit very well and he loves wearing it!

Riley Goes Back to School

Halleluiah!

Seriously!  Riley has been begging to go back to school since Finn started 3.5 weeks ago!  Finally!  He is ELATED! 

He is in the same class that Finn was in 2 years ago, which he thinks is the coolest thing ever!

We went to check out the classroom for open house!

And now, I know I have a problem, I know this, BUT I couldn’t help myself.  They asked for a change of clothes to be brought in in a kid’s size shoe box.  And my first thought was “well that is kind of boring”.  So here ya go, Riley’s box.  He’s very very excited about it!

We also went and picked up the few supplies he needed.  I’ve never seen a kid so excited about zip lock bags and clorox wipes before!  LOL!  Here he is all ready for school!

Riley also had a fill in this Family Tree to bring to school!  I printed out pictures of our family members, let him decorate the tree and decide where to put them on.  As we are finishing it up though he says “Where is Uncle Buzz?”!  So off I went hunting for a picture of Uncle Buzz!  He also wanted me to write his name on it for him because “I don’t know how to write, momma.”  (DUH) but then he didn’t like where I wrote his name, hence why it is written twice, lol!

Riley is Mr. Chatterbox lately, he will sit and talk your ear off without taking a breath. There is no room for you to speak. just listen!  My favorite words he has been saying lately: “That’s impossible” and “Actually”.  It is hysterical to hear him use those words.

Tis the Soccer Season

It’s that time of year again, Soccer!  Most of our regular soccer team is moving on to tee ball.  We thought about it but then decided that we could hold off for just a little bit longer and stick with soccer.  And when I asked Finn is he wanted to play soccer he said yes!  (Note, I didn’t ask him if he wanted to play soccer OR tee ball, because I knew the answer, lol!)  So, we also decided to switch leagues and now we’re playing with the one that most of his classmates are playing with.  So we also decided to switch Riley.  However….Finn has practice on Tuesday nights and games on Saturday morning and Riley has practice/game on Friday nights.  So now we are doing soccer 3 days a week.

But they’ve got the same uniform which they think is SUPER cool!

  

Finn was also curious to see how much taller Riley was getting, lol!

 

Boys x 3

I mentioned to someone the other day who was remarking on something Kellen was doing, that it just doesn’t occur to him that he shouldn’t be doing these things.  This is what he sees, so he thinks that is what he should be doing.

The boys did this for probably 10-15 minutes, just around and around.  I took a bunch of videos of them….meaning, I got to just sit there and watch them go around and around and around.  It was kind of nice!  :)

To The Duck Pond

The weather here has been GORGEOUS this last week or so and we are taking full advantage of it!  We spent a morning at the local duck pond with our friend Lila. 

Kellen was literally running away from the ducks, it was hilarious!

Riley on the other hand got very bold with the feeding of the ducks!
