Summer Reading Challenge – SBL

We love to read!  We read alot!  We have more books than we know what to do with and every time I go through our books trying to figure out what we can maybe donate, I get rid of nothing and end up buying more books.  This is what this house looks like this summer, piles of these EVERYWHERE!  On the table, on the counters, in the bedrooms, on the shelves, in the book baskets, everywhere!

This is a good problem to have!!!  (and truly the one mess I don’t mind!)

But I wanted to make reading a little extra FUN for the summer, especially to encourage Finn to keep reading and not fall into the summer slide syndrome.  So I signed both Finn and Riley up for the Little Shop of Stories Summer Reading Challenge.  After every 10 hours of reading they will give you a prize.  The First 10 hours gave us a free donut from Revolution Donuts in Decatur!

Reading the 10 hours was not a challenge, what was a challenge was the keeping the log of what we had read!  But once we kept up with it, it finally became part of the routine!  And this weekend we finally finished our first 10 hours, so off to Little Shop of Stories we went with our reading logs to get our coupon!

The boys with their logs!

The other problem is that most of our books take like 3-5 minutes to read….you wanna know how many of those you have to read to get 10 HOURS????  ALOT!

And then off to Revolution Donut to redeem!

Personally, I don’t like donuts, but this crunchy mister with ham and cheese, yes, yes please!

So proud and excited for the next 10 hours!
