We love the aquarium! We had an annual pass last year and we kind of debated on whether or not to renew again this year because its annoying to have to pay for parking, but we love the aquarium, and so does Finn and with winter coming its great to have an indoor activity and the dolphin exhibit should be opening soon!!! So I took the boys down last week because it was cold and raining.
Riley was so excited he rested up in the car ride there
And, as we know, Finn liked random things. His favorite thing at the aquarium is this FUN little kid sized tunnel. He will literally run around and around and around and around and around in this thing for a good hour if I let him.
Here’s the tunnel
Finn going in
Finn inside
Finn coming out
And going back to the entrance to run through again…and again…
He’s a tree-hugger
And Depot!!! Every time we go, we see Depot. Finn LOVES Depot. Until recently Finn had never seen the movie Finding Nemo, but when he did, he thought that Nemo was Depot and he calls all orange colored fish Depot, which I’m sure makes Bernie Marcus one happy man!
So it is annual tradition that we go to our friends house who live in Candler Park, hang out with them and then walk up the street to the Little Five Points Halloween Parade! Usually we go in costume:
2007: Pappa Smurf, Smurfette and Pirate Finn
2008: Super Family
But this year, the parade snuck up on me and our costumes were not done. So instead we donned our festive Halloween attire and joined our friends!
Our friends gave us this cute pumpkin hat for Riley to wear. Cute even if it made him look like a girl! Riley’s shirt says “I Love My Mummy”! Seriously beyond cute, especially with these awesome orange pants.
No party is complete without the beer daddy!

And then ONE single picture of the parade before the batteries died.
YAY!!! Riley is crawling! On Thursday 10/22/09 at 8.5 months old, Mr Riley did his first official crawling! We were at the trike park in Decatur and I had him on a blanket with some toys while Finn was running around and I looked over and Riley was crawling off the blanket! I started jumping up and down and shouting and scooped him up to give him lots of hugs and kisses and then put him back down and moved all of his toys far away to try to get him to go after them some more! Parents are so evil! So on Friday we were playing in his room and I was attempting to try to get this crawling thing captured on video for grandma and grandpa and here is what I got:
Gah! So this is why it annoys me that all toys need screwdrivers in order to take out their batteries….toddlers (and babies) LOVE to play with them!
I think I mentioned before how Finn is in LOVE with Riley’s crib aquarium. Well the batteries had died and I had been too lazy to unhook it, unscrew the back and put the batteries in the recharger, re-screw the back and re-hang it. So it had been quiet for a while, until this weekend I finally did it. So when we walked in this morning and found Riley sitting up in his crib and the aquarium was playing, Finn was SO excited! He started trying to climb into Riley’s crib and then he asked for my help. I relented. Finn laid right down and stared at the aquarium and said “Finn like baby’s quarium, momma”. Riley was so excited to have Finn in the crib with him…And this cuteness is just too much.
Riley finally figured out how to push himself up into a sitting position from laying down! When he woke up at 6am I found him sitting up an then when he woke up again at 8, this is what I found!
Crib is officially dropped all the way down!
And he now officially gets stuck in places….
So its time to decorate for Fall/Halloween and I pull out the bins from the basement and as I’m pulling out the hay from the bag I can hear Finn opening one of the bins behind me and pulling things out. I stand up and turn around and see this:
These are the goggles I got from when I had my Lasik done. The bin he was in had a mix of costume stuff and decorations and he is obsessed with goggles so of course he put them on. Hilarious…he cracks me up.
I’ve gone overboard with Riley’s shoe collection! Most of these he can’t even wear until he’s walking, but I got some great deals and the cuteness just kills me! I cannot wait till he can wear them!
Yes…..how many times in your life can you say that you have an emergency call to the pediatrician from Target? I’m hoping this was my one and only.
So I need to run to Target to grab something really quick, so I load up the boys and head on over. I’ve got Riley in the front of the cart in the seat and I’ve got Finn in the inside basket. That stupid dollar bin gets me every time. I pick up two pairs of kids Halloween socks (because I am festive), a Sesame Street book for Finn (because I bribed him) and a package of those time release capsules that turn into dinosaur shaped sponges when you put them in water (because my friend Carolyn told me how much fun her and Maggie had watching them….and because I’m an idiot). I then move on to the bags, pick up a new bag and Finn is sitting in the cart with it on his shoulder petting it. Then we move on to the kids clothes and I’m looking at this rack of Tonka t-shirts trying to find Finn’s size cuz I know he’s gonna love this shirt with a huge digger on it when I turn around and find him with the dinosaur capsules open, one in his hand, 2 in his mouth and 2 on the ground…..1 is missing….OMG….”Finn did you swallow one of these?” “yes momma” but he says yes to just about anything so I’m not sure but I’m also just not sure what to do so I call the pediatrician as I’m racing out the store and when they answer I say “I’ve got to talk to a nurse, its urgent, I can’t wait for a call back, my son just swallowed one of those time release capsule dinosaur shaped sponge things!!!!” The nurse calmly replies “one second”….another nurse pops on and says “so he swallowed one of those capsules?” “yes, what do I do?” “well you’re not the first person to call about this…..don’t worry, as long as he isn’t having difficulty breathing than it isn’t expanding in his throat (OMG!!!) and it made its way to his belly where his stomach acid will eat it up and he’ll be fine” “YAY!!!”
Finn was making Riley laugh so loud….I wasn’t able to fully capture it, but I did a little bit in each of these, plus just them playing together is adorable!
I love fall, Halloween, Thanksgiving and all that entails!
Boys in festive jammies!!!
Fall craft activity: Painting trees…so, I'm more of a "let's get out of the house and do stuff" kind of person, but I realize its probably good for Finn to have some kind of crafts at home other than coloring/painting and such. I'm also incredibly unartistic, it is sad. I'd like for Finn to not inherit my lack of creativity, soooo.....I googled and found this project! We had so much fun!

Our finished projects!
This past weekend we spent the most gorgeous Saturday afternoon at Hotoberfest in a cool neighborhood in Atlanta, Glenwood Park. We went with the Brimmer Family, walked around the artist vendor area until we got to the children’s area and live music stage where we plopped ourselves down, let the kids run rampant and enjoyed some beers and a ridiculously beautiful fall day (which was even more beautiful after the great Atlanta Flood of 2009!)!
Is that……???
Why yes! Yes it is! “Mmmmm, beer”
