The Weather Channel, An Inside Tour!

My very dear friend, Miss Jess, is a meteorologist at The Weather Channel and we got to go on an inside tour!  We invited along our friends Kara and McKenna too!

Checking out the big touch screen with the major airport weather in the studio!

The green screen was tough for the kids to understand, the first green screen we stood in front of wasn’t hooked up to show us on the TV monitors, so they really couldn’t quite understand what was happening.

Until we went in to this room and we were actually on the TV’s, which they thought was amazing and hilarious and so much FUN!!!

It is hard to see, but here Riley is waving and saying “My hand is waving at me!”  LOL

We went up to an observation area where we could look down at a live show in the same studio that we were just in. We had a big TV right next to where we were standing so the boys could see the ladies down below AND on the TV and then I think they finally got it. They also could see what the ladies looked like when they were in front of the green screen.

We got to see the area where Miss Jess works, and attempted a group picture….feet in the air, bottoms showing and tongues sticking out…yeah, they were done.

We had so much FUN, it was definitely VERY cool and the boys still keep talking about being on TV!

Ice Cream Truck – Summer Bucket List

Last year we put the ice cream truck on our summer bucket list and then NEVER SAW THE ICE CREAM TRUCK!!!  Seriously, the boys knew it was on there and were SOOOO excited because I typically don’t allow them to go to the ice cream truck.  But it was a summer treat for our FUN list and then fate intervened.

So I put it back on the list for this year and the boys reminded me one day on our way to the pool, so I grabbed some cash, which I never have on me at the pool, and lo and behold, minutes into swimming the truck arrived!!!!!

HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY!!!

So cute!

Glow Run

Taylor and I participated in another super cool run, a night Glow run!  The race didn’t start until the sun went down, they played music during the entire race, everyone wore black and glow necklaces/bracelets/glasses/etc/etc/etc and at the end was an amazing DJ led dance party complete with food and beer trucks!!!  It was so.much.FUN!

Library

I have a love hate relationship with the library.  I mean I do really love it and so do the boys.  But I’ve always had a toddler in tow and those toddlers can wreak utter havoc on a library.  FINALLY, we are at a good age that Kellen doesn’t want to eat/rip every single book and he mostly isn’t trying to take ALL of the books off the shelves.  Trust that he is still taking plenty down, but he at least stops to look through them for a bit!  Also, they never have what I want, but I found a way around that by reserving what I want on-line and then they send me an email telling me it is waiting for me.  So the boys and I can go in, sit in the kid section, read books, choose some at random and then pick up the ones I really want from the reserved section!  Win-Win!

This visit really did my heart good, seeing them all sitting and really reading through the books for a looooong time!

After every book, Kellen would close it and say “The End.” very matter-of-factly and move on to the next book.  It was adorable!

Like I said, I always let them pick out some books randomly to take home.  Some we have read through while we were sitting there together, but some we haven’t.  These two we didn’t read beforehand:  It’s A Tiger, seriously made me laugh out loud like a 4 year old, like belly laugh, through the whole thing, and through subsequent readings.

This one however, was very very sad.  Oy vey.

The Mud Club

The plans for Thursday night started so innocently….Todd was going to be out of town and a bunch of the other dads were going to be golfing and so one mom friend sent out a note asking who wanted to get together for dinner.  I suggested that we come to our house to play instead of taking over (and destroying) a restaurant with our 9 children.  NINE children.  Four moms.

So the moms got Chinese take out and the kids ate kid food.  We fed the kids first and sent them back out to play while we sat down to enjoy our meal.  And then this happened.

But look at their faces!!!  They are so freaking happy and had so much freaking FUN I can barely stand it!  This night proved to me that I was born to be a mom boy….or maybe I’m just used to it now, lol!  But the boys dubbed it “Mud Club” and they are very proud of their Mud House!

I asked the girls if I could take a picture of “the clean girls” and McKenna said “But I have a little bit of dirt on me!”…..seriously it was like one little droplet!  hilarious!

Banana Holder

I have strict rules about food in the car, however we were going to the dentist for a 730am appointment and I wasn’t quite sure what to do about breakfast….but Riley had it all figured out.

Car Wash – Summer Bucket List

Seriously, the car wash never gets old!  My camera battery died last year as we were going in to the car wash for the very first time, so even though we’ve been in a bunch of times, I still video’d it because it is just still priceless!  It is a little dark at first but then I realized I could turn on the lights, lol!

Parachute

Finn had an engineering class this last quarter of the school year, which he loved and thought was amazing, and I’ll admit I was quite impressed with it myself!  One of the things they made was a parachute.  It got lost in the shuffle for a hot minute in the move, but we  found it again and finally gave it a try on the stairs at the new house!

Silly Socks

One night as we’re getting ready for bed while Todd was out of town, Riley grabbed his Santa jammies AND a pair of Santa socks….which sent Finn in search of a pair of Santa socks….and then once Kellen noticed he was the only one without socks, he needed a pair too! And this silliness ensued…and because it is summer, and because they were giggling so much, and because they weren’t actually hurting each other….I let it go on and on for a while!

and now this is part of our bedtime routine!

2013 Summer Bucket List

I failed to mention this earlier, but we have made another Summer Bucket List for this summer!

IMG_0108

I kept alot of the same things from last year and definitely added a few new things!  New to the list is Roller Skating, Aquatic Center, Skyzone, Catch Air, Sky Lanterns, Mini-Golf, Make our own popsicles, Summer Reading Challenge and a Summer Math and Number Challenge.  We’ve already made our way through a few things which I will post about shortly.  I absolutely love having this list and working through it with the boys and they love, love, love it too!
