Even though I take the boys to the pool every day, Riley hadn't actually gone swimming yet until this weekend! He's got the cutest little brown and blue plaid swim shorts with a matching blue terry hoodie, gah, too cute! And Finn is such a good swimmer in the water, he just loves it and has no fear!

Happy Morning Baby
Riley is always so happy when he wakes up in the morning and even from naps! It makes waking up at 5:30 am a little easier when greeted with this smile!
Happy Father's Day
What better place to celebrate Father's Day than with Riley's first trip to the world's largest drive-in, The Varsity? Yum! We love you daddy!

Baby Hair Progression in Pictures
Started out with a full head of hair on his bithday and 2 weeks old, thinning out at 2 months old (he even looks sad), even thinner at 3 months old and the mullet that remains at 4 months old as the rest is starting to fill back in!

Memory and Imagination
Finn's memory and imagination have been blowing my mind lately. It always strikes me as funny when we're outside and Finn hears and recognizes the sounds of a lawnmower, a leafblower, city bus, garbage truck and a weedwacker. I'm pretty sure these are all things that daddy must have pointed out to him!
You can actually see the "wheels turning" so to speak when you're talking to him, like one day he had played with his friend Matteo and when I asked him about it the next day, he kind of stopped and thought for a second and said "Matteo bicycle helmet" remembering the best toy ever that the two of them were fighting over the day before! Anytime we turn down this one street on our walks he always shouts "Davis, bicycle" because his friend Davis lives on that street and has a bicycle. Whenever he sees a big white SUV he says "Maggie's car!" and any color Honda Element is "mommy's car".
He's also starting to sing along to songs, he'll just suddenly bust into a rendition of wheels on the bus, monkeys jumping on the bed, or ring around the rosy and sings along to our Raffi CD in the car (although he should because we've been listening to that CD for almost 2 years now!).
And the imagination.......I have to tell you I've been worried about the imagination/pretending part of raising a kid. I have zero imagination or creativity....and I don't want to throw daddy under the bus or anything but..... And it started when we pulled out the crayons or the sidewalk chalk, suddenly I had to start thinking of things to draw.....I seem to always draw a sun, it is the ONLY thing I can EVER think of. Sad. But I am happy too report, that it must be an innate kid thing (so surely mommy and daddy had it back in the day too!) because he's doing it, all on his own!
When reading books he will look at pictures of things and say "pick up" and lift his hand up like he's picking it up out of the book. He will pretend eat foods in books, pretend to drink things, pull a truck out of a book and wheel it around and the best story ever.......I finished a roll of paper towels this week and as I was about to throw away the cardboard roll, Finn asked for it. I thought oh yeah, this is FUN, so I started singing into one end of it, the roll magnifying the sound. Finn picked it up, gave it a try himself and after a little bit he then pointed it towards the ground and said "Leaf Blower" and starting making a leaf blower noise! OMG! I almost died! HILARIOUS! Then he started walking around the house with the "leaf blower". And then he'd pinch one end of it to turn it on and off and he had to take the leaf blower outside with the lawnmower! If only these things really worked, mommy and daddy wouldn't have to do any yard work!
So just one more month and our little guy turns 2! Unbelievable! We're having a lot of FUN right now and I'm really hoping those terrible two's don't start too soon!

My Days With The Lakes Boys
So now that it has been a month and a half that I've been home full-time with the boys, I am starting to feel more comfortable with our routine, getting out and about with two in tow, scheduling activities and lolly-gagging about! We spend our days going for long walks, going to one of the many playgrounds near our house, going to Toddlercize at the YMCA, playing in the front yard, meeting friends at the zoo, bouncy house or for playdates and my favorite part.....we spend our afternoons at our awesome pool! Our neighborhood has the best pool, it has zero entry and gradually gets deeper as it winds around and has fountains in the shallow end! Mommy is also able to get some work-outs in while the boys play in the daycare at the YMCA! Mostly Riley is just along for the ride and is good for napping whenever/wherever or intently watching big brother Finn. Basically we spend a lot of time playing in one way or another....having FUN Lakes Family Style! ;) I can honestly say that I am completely enjoying my time with them and with each new activity or discovery or milestone that comes along it makes me cherish this time I have with them even more!

Memory Card Full
I wish this was some clever way of me saying that my memory is so full from all of the time I've spent with the boys in the last month and a half, but no....sadly it is the message that my camera gave me as it stopped filming Riley rolling over! Riley rolled over for the first time the day before he was 4 months old, he rolled over three times before it dawned on me that I should get my camera and get it on video. Once I did, he rolled over for that 4th time and as he was halfway over it stopped! Gah! The video was actually really funny to watch, but in my haste to try to make space so I could get the full roll filmed I deleted it only to have him not roll over again that day. :( He has since rolled over from belly to back and even back to belly and I've just been too lazy to get up and find the camera and get it captured.

We've graduated!
Riley is finally big enough that we could convert the stroller so that both boys are in the upright position and everyone is so much happier! Riley is happy to not be laying flat, Finn is happy that Riley isn't kicking him and isn't crying on our walks and mommy is happy that everyone is happy!

Firehouse Open House
City of Atlanta Fire Departments had Open House weekend so we headed over to our local firehouse for some more firetruck FUN! Riley even got in on the action, he was dying to wear the headphones so we just had to let him!
