3rd Annual Lakes Family Thanksgiving Scavenger Hunt

You may remember our previous scavenger hunts!  This year we did the entire thing within the confines of the Brown County State Park in Nashville, IN.

We kept the same teams as last year:

Teams
Team 1: Heather, John, Finn, Joseph and Grandma
Team 2: Holli, Riley, Steph, Todd, Papa and Kellen

We could do the items on the list in any order, we had to take a picture at each task and we had to have at least one of us in each photo and we had to have at least one group photo. We decided to meet at the Lodge at 5:30 and which team had the most items complete won!  2010 Winner = Team 1, 2011 Winner = Team 2 and this year the winner was Team 2.

Due to some electronic malfunction, we don’t have Team 2’s video, but they did complete the task.  And their video was HILARIOUS!!!  Team 1 took both picture and video!  :)

This is debatable as well…..while it did not say LIVE, that was Team 1’s understanding.  So we’ve got a picture with tadpoles and Team 2 has a picture of some dead animals stuffed and hung on a wall.

Bear Bike Ride

As I mentioned, our weather has been gorgeous!!!  After coming back home from rainy, cold Portland, the sun felt amazing!  The boys wanted to take their bears for a bike ride!

 

Kellen was along for the ride too!

 

Here we were pretending he was chasing me, he was laughing SO hard!!!!

We cannot thank Grandma enough for coming to stay with the boys so we could fly off to Portland for a weekend away and to visit some dearly missed friends!

And then we pub hopped, first stop mini-beers at Full Sail Brewery in Hood River, OR, which is the cutest little town!

 

Then we crossed The Bridge of the Gods to get over in to Washington to go to Walking Man Brew Pub! 

The view was not so great at night though, LOL!

  

And back in town we stocked up on more beer, this one made me LOL!

Then we went CRABBING on the Oregon Coast, Rockaway Beach!!!!

Yes, I am stuffing a dead fish in to the ring!

We are VERY proud!

But this guy is a little upset!

Beautiful!  (even if they are females)  So it turns out that we had it wrong, we captured all females instead of males.  So in the end we had to return our crabs to the sea!

Next we drove down to Canon Beach to check out the beach and grab some dinner!

Next day, more adventure!  More falls!

And then we went and hiked through Ape Cave, a Lava Tube!!!  Here we are starting to hike up to the top of the tube!

Reward!

This guy may have squeeled like a little girl and jumped for joy when we found the exit to the cave!  But we were right there with him in our excitement!

Back home, time to enjoy our ginormous oysters we bought on the bay before heading back home!!!
