DAC Kids
I’d heard about this place from some of my mommy friends who live OTP, because it is OTP. So I put it on the summer bucket list figuring we had time to kill! This place was AWESOME! I thought it was definitely worth the drive, and the drive ended up not even being all that bad! This place was a huge “Pirates Cove” that had an enormous wooden play structure with a giant sand pit under it. It also had these AWESOME cannon guns that the boys could load up with nerf balls and shoot across the room! It also had a couple of inflatable play things and a big wooden fort structure to play in.
The boys wore their eye patches on the way up, lol!
Snow Cones
The boys had never had a snow cone before! Crazy, right? Turns out the place we went to, it isn’t really in the snow ball shape in a cone like I had hoped for, but was a cup full of shaved ice. The boys chose strawberry…..but then they saw a shelf full of ketttle corn and had to have it. Sadly they weren’t huge fans of the snow cone but LOVED the kettle corn!
They found this cute little alcove under the stairs where they put up their bag of kettle corn and danced around to the zydeco music!
Splashpad
We went to the splashpad a few times this summer and always had a blast!
Tellus Museum
The Tellus Museum was also a long drive for us, but we went with some great friends and it was a REALLY cool museum! It also wasn’t crowded and it wasn’t a super huge place so we had plenty of time to check everything out!
Can you see Kellen’s little face in there? eeep!
They had a little place where you could pan for gems!
And a place where you could dig for dinosaur bones and fossils!
And this super cute big back yard that had so many cool parts to it! A place for Kellen to sit with his girlfriend…
This little room filled with all kinds of magnets and different things you could do with the magnets. This crane was a HUGE hit with all the kids! It had a couple of buttons to push to make the crane wire go up and down and to turn the magnet off and on and a joystick to move the crane around in order to pick up and move magnets into the dump truck. It was pretty awesome!
And this was my car ride home!
Dinner at the Pool
Amazingly, it took us until the Friday before school started for us to actually check this one off the list! But when we pulled it all together, we ended up having a “private” pool party because thunder had rolled through forcing everyone out of the pool for about 45 minutes which sent most people home. We hit the playground for a little while and then had the place all to ourselves!
Find A New Park
I had two parks in mind for this bucket item, but in the end we chose to make the drive up to Morgan Falls Overlook park in Sandy Springs. It was a really cool playground in a gorgeous spot! The boys LOVED this giant spider web thing for climbing (they are all about climbing and could have been happy just climbing on this thing the entire time!)!
Dipping our feet in the cooooold chattahoochee on a very, very warm day!
Lemonade Stand
The boys squealed in delight when we put Lemonade Stand on the list! They begged and begged every day to do the lemonade stand, but we knew we needed to wait until a Saturday morning when the Farmer’s Market was open because there is always alot of foot traffic on those days. We made our sign, and our lemonade and I also made some pumpkin chocolate chip muffins! We sold everything for 25 cents. The boys helped make change and hand out the muffins and lemonade. Riley also did a very good job of selling and wrangling in passersby, he just might have a future in sales, he even got people to cross the street!
Lakes Lemonade!
Kellen nibbling on a lemon!
Riley: “get your lemonade here, lemonade for sale!!”
Customers!!!
The boys made $14, enough for one monster truck (Riley), 5 hot wheels cars (Finn), one giant red ball (Kellen) and they even wanted to share their profits with our mother's helper, Siena, and bought her a purple hot wheels car! Props to the Target cashier who was so patient with us counting out our 56 quarters!
