Finn also reminded me that it is Grandma Bear’s sixth birthday!

 

Five was an AMAZING year!  When I went back to read about what I wrote for his birthday last year, a lot of it is the same.  I couldn’t wait til he was six so people would stop gawking at how tall he is for 5, ha!  He is still the sweetest most gentle soul, is caring, loves to hug me, hold my hand and tell me how much he loves me.  He loves for me to rub his back and his head at bedtime and snuggle him.

He has really taken on the roles of being the oldest and the big brother this year.  He loves to help with chores around the house and is so proud when he does things without being asked.  He loves helping Kellen with things and is super understanding with him and mostly calm and patient with him.  mostly.

It is nearly impossible to take a picture of him….unless it is his idea…he does ask me to take pictures of him which he will gladly smile and pose in, just not when I want to take a picture.

He starts 1st grade next week!  1st grade!  That is like a real big boy grade.  I mean it has grade in the title.  This year he learned to read and his writing has gotten sooo much better!  He also loves to color and draw which were things he never liked doing before.  I’ve had a tough time this summer getting him to read on his own or read anything to me.  He LOVES to read books and will sit and listen to us read to him forever.  But he is definitely self-conscious about reading out loud to us.  I’ve tried to just let it go because I don’t want to make a big deal out of it and make him hate reading.  In time I know it will come and I look forward to that time!

And off to the doctor to get him all checked out, measured and weighed…..he gained 4.5 pounds and grew just over 2 inches this year!  It is an amazing thing to watch him grow!  We love you Finnegan!
