Two thirty-somethings having FUN being parents!

It’s that time of year again….time for Finn’s birthday, grandma and papa come to visit and Cow Appreciation Day!!!
The boys really got into it this year! They wanted spotted shirts and noses and hooves! My cute little calves!
I didn’t have the energy to try to put a black nose on Kellen, knowing he was just going to rub it all over my white shirt. Also, this is the last time he can wear the More Cowbell t-shirt. :( So I had to put it on him!
Looking at Papa on the left and Grandma on the right!
Mooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!
We all hold hands when saying our dinner prayer. In the circle it goes me, Finn, Todd, Riley, Kellen and back to me. Kellen has started holding hands with both me and Riley during the prayer. He will sit still holding hands during the whole prayer and he has even started “talking” along with us. It is seriously the cutest thing ever!
A few weeks ago we were at the zoo. It was a beautiful morning. Finn and Riley went up into the new Giraffe feeding area and were checking things out. On their way back down they climbed onto the fence checking out some zebra’s close by. Riley has his belly on the top bar of the fence and he’s kicking his feet and as I’m about to say something to him he plopped right over the fence onto his back!!!! He fell over the fence! At the zoo! With the zebras!!!
Riley!
Thankfully there was a small little landing there on the other side of the fence before the big drop off into the zebra pen. That is where he landed, in a bunch of mulch. I will tell you it scared the hell out of him! He was surprised and scared! I ran over and was able to pull him back out.
But seriously….of course one of my kids, and no surprise it was Riley, fell over the fence at the zoo. ha!
Recently we started brushing the boys hair after bath. One night Riley said to me:
Riley: Momma, will you brush my hair
Me: sure {brushing hair}
Riley: Am I handsome?
Me: You are very handsome!
Riley: I LOVE being handsome! I am a prince! And you are my princess!
tee hee
We made these awesome “masks” but the bigs REFUSED to let me take a picture or wear them for more than 2 seconds after they were made. Kellen though, he was a trooper! Seriously cracks me up!
I also had bought these star sunglasses for the boys but we forgot them for the parade!
I think it was back in October that Finn started telling me he wanted a shark party. I wasn’t sold on the idea but he was insistent all the way through. But once I started thinking about it, it was perfect! Shark Finn, Finn-tastic….I mean, perfect! He’s a clever one!
I decided I wasn’t going to go overboard with details for the party, so I went all out on the invitations!
The boys in their Jawesome Shark Pajamas!
And on to the party!
Shark Finn Cupcakes
Gummy Shark Skewers
Shark Brew, mmmm
The birthday boy filling his pool
And Riley loading his ammo
FUN time!
FINALLY, cupcake time! The boys were DYING for cupcakes all day, and gummy sharks.
The birthday boy in his birthday shark shirt!
Babies in a bucket!
It was a good party, but no one should leave a full beer behind…
Everyone had so much FUN! Happy Birthday Finnegan!
After Finn went to bed I hung streamers and balloons on his door to surprise him the next morning!
In the morning, the boys thought they were awesome, but when we went to put them back to bed, Finn asked me to take them down because they scared him in the middle of the night when he got up to pee. Birthday Fail.
But Kellen thought they were AWESOME!
Finn’s one request for his birthday was to go bowling! It was all he could talk about, birthday bowling! So I got a sitter to watch Kellen and I took Finn and Riley bowling and we had a blast!
Kellen chillin’ with the bigs before we left!
The scores from the 1st and 2nd games we played!
Grandma and Papa came to town that day and after dinner we opened presents! More duplo’s and building pads, a baseball glove, a shark t-shirt, baseball glove, new handle bar grips, cars, car launcher, a new BOZ video, skippy john jones books and a penguin pillow pet!
All in all, it was a super FUN day!!!
