East Lake Farmers Market

We love our farmers market and we love walking the boys up there on Saturday mornings.  And we’re so happy we’re still in walking distance to it.  I got home from the grocery store just in time to find this…

Finn wanted to walk grandma bear down to the farmer’s market in the grocery cart.  Which was actually quite useful for bringing our goodies home!  We walk right by our old house on the way to the market and the trees were in full bloom.  So pretty!

Dinner at the Pool – SBL

Our 2nd Annnual “Dinner at the Pool” event went off just as swimmingly as it did last year.  (See what I did there?)  Again we had fairly weird weather, but that just meant the pool was all ours again!  What are the chances?!?!  So much FUN!

Movie Day - SBL

We watched two movies this summer, one at home (Despicable Me) and one at the movies….Turbo!  Turbo is the cutest movie!  My boys have a track record of being scared at ALL movies.  So this time, we went and bought the book, read it a couple of times reiterating that we know he is going to be OK in the end!  I also finally let Finn in on a little secret:  All movies have a happy ending.  OK, between you and me, we know this to be false, but by the time he is watching the kind of movie that doesn’t end well, he will be old enough to handle it.  Hopefully.

The movie was a major success!  No one got scared!  No one cried!  The movie itself really also didn’t have a lot of dramatic turn of events or chases or life threatening aspects to it, which I think helped.  Kellen did want to sit on my lap eventually and I was able to put my feet up on the table in front of us and lean us back and we just sat and snuggled the whole movie, which was precious!

I mean, how adorable is little Kellen with the enormous tub of pop corn?

Kangaroo Pouches

We spent a weekend up in the mountains with Grandma and Papa and when the boys came home, unfortunately Grandma Bear did not.  Finn seemed fine at first when we noticed her absence but when bedtime rolled around, he was not.  It was a long two days.  Poor boy!

But when she did come home, he just could not get enough of her, or be close enough to her….so he zipped her up inside of his footie pajamas!

And Kellen decided “Jaffie” should be in his shirt too.

And the next morning, Kellen came running upstairs and “Jaffie” was still inside his shirt.  He had actually slept with the giraffe inside his shirt all night long!  Silly boys!

Mini-Golf – SBL

I added mini-golf to our summer bucket list because the boys are obsessed with golf.  Bonus, we got to go golfing with Holli and Joseph!  We found a FUN little place that had three different courses to choose from and we had a nice little over cast morning and the course almost to ourselves!  (Which was great since we had 9 in our party!!!)  We had a blast!

CCAC – SBL

I put two different aquatic centers on the summer bucket list, not knowing which one we would go to, in the end we didn’t go to either, but went to another one, The Cherokee County Aquatic Center up in Holly Springs, which is half way between Atlanta and Ellijay!  Steph, Holli and Joseph were visiting and it was the perfect mid way meeting point and so ridiculously FUN!  Like my face hurt so bad from all the smiling and we stayed until 2 pm which is well in to naptime, but it was so much FUN we just had to stay and play!

This place is amazing and if you have the opportunity, you should go!  It has a lazy river too and I put a swimmie vest on Kellen and he was able to float right along that thing and swim and he felt like he was flying like Super Man!

It was gray and cloudy when we got there and the sun kind of went in and out most of the day and I know there were massive storms rolling through Atlanta and the area but not a single drop where we were!

Uber Ice Cream

So Uber is this fancy taxi thing and they were having a one day deal where instead of a black sedan or SUV to come pick you up, you could order your very own ice cream truck to your door.

YES!!!

So we invited a bunch of people over and ordered our truck!  We got lucky and it came like right away!  Wooohoooo!!!

More Reading Rewards - SBL

The boys finished their second set of 10 hours for the Little Shop Of Stories Summer Reading Challenge….the price this time was for a 1/4lb of gummies from Greene’s!

New Park - SBL

So it isn’t technically a park, but it is kind of water park-ish….a new YMCA and Teen Center opened this summer in our neighborhood and it has an awesome outdoor pool!

We’ve been a few times now and the boys just absolutely LOVE that slide and Kellen loves the mushroom and the splashpad area (not pictured).  SO grateful to have this awesome and FREE pool in our neighborhood!

Summer Camp

The boys did a couple of VBS’s this summer, but there was one week that we signed up ALL THREE of them to go to camp at the same time and place!  It was only 3 days, but it was 9am-1pm, that’s 12 whole hours to myself!

Even Kellen says, Can I Get An Amen?

IMG_0661IMG_0662

I didn’t really accomplish as much as I had hoped for the week, but on the last morning I just said screw everything else and I went and I plopped myself at the pool for an hour!

Golfer Finn

Grandpa O’Connor and Grandma Sandy sent Finn a set of golf clubs for his birthday and it seriously made his year!

Hooooray!

And then as a special treat he got to go real golfing with Uncle Buzz during quiet time one day!  I never got a straight answer as to how many holes they played, but they did rent a cart to drive them around and Uncle Buzz did hot his ball in to the water and Finn did not.  He asks to go golfing almost every single day!
