Moving On Up....

Now that Mr. Finn is starting to walk, he is going to be transitioning to the next room at daycare....next week! He'll be only taking one nap a day, eating all their tablefoods and sleeping on a cot! oh my! I'm totally nervous! I'm not mentally prepared to have such a big boy! When she told me my first thought was NO!!! I have no idea why, its not a bad thing but that just seems so scary! She did say that they would transition him slowly over the next couple of weeks so he won't just automatically start over there...but wow! I will say that I am excited that I won't have to pack his food for him anymore! His day will also have structure to it with activities and arts and crafts and outdoor play time. I suppose I should probably buy him some shoes now too! Wish us luck!

Walking!!!!

So a couple of weeks ago when I picked Finn up from daycare, they told me he'd taken some steps here and there. We'd seen him maybe take one or two steps on his own but very little progress. Last Thursday when I picked him up from daycare she announced "He took 8 Steps Today!!!" and then Friday morning they called me to tell me he had walked across the room! So while I was incredibly proud and excited and happy, I was also soooo sad because I had yet to see it. When we started daycare I knew things like this would happen, big milestones, while I was away at work. I vowed to just let myself think "the first time I see it is the first time it happens" and until now I had. But walking? That is just a whole other thing! It's so much bigger than rolling or sitting up or crawling....or at least it feels that way.

Well Saturday morning, we went to our buddy Liam's 1st Birthday Party (Happy Birthday Liam!!!) and lo and behold, he toddled around quite a bit! He's sooo proud of himself and so excited and a tiny bit scared, it is just so cute! So it will probably be a while before we can actually catch this on video, but you know we'll post it as soon as we do!

So we have a walker! I suppose its time to buy him some shoes! Woot woot!

Finn's new wheels

So when we got home last night, I plopped Finn down on the floor and went to put some things away in the kitchen. When I came back, here is where I found him:

I couldn't stop laughing because I've seen him try to get into the car before and it involved a lot of grunting and a little crying....turns out he has figured out how to use the door

Also if you say "beep beep" he will honk the horn! Cutest thing ever!

Growing Baby Boy

Since Finn was 1 week old, we decided to take pictures of him in the same outfit, on the same blanket and to really judge how much he has grown we needed a prop.....being from Indiana, a basketball only seemed fitting! Here's a slideshow of all of his pitures from 1 week old to one year old!

Sooo pretty!

Finn likes to play in mommy's bathroom vanity while she is getting ready in the mornings. He likes to play with my hair brush and try to brush his own hair, he likes to bang my hair dryer on the floor and against the wall....and.....he likes to play with my headbands. I took it the other day and put it on his head....the next day, he pulled them out and tried to put it on his head by himself! Gifted? I think so! And of course I had to take a picture! he will hate me for this one day!

A Milestone!

So you know how before your baby is born, you say all these things you are or aren't going to do and then more than half of them go by the wayside once baby actually arrives? Well, we said that we didn't want Finn to watch TV, more so daddy than me, I mean I agreed with the concept, I was just nervous that I'd cave and break it at some point. However.....come this Friday we'll have made it a whole year without sticking him in front of the TV. This also remarkably enough has cut down on our TV viewing. We don't ever even turn the TV on until after Finn is in bed. So I don't know how much longer we'll be able to hold off but we're feeling pretty darn proud to have made it this far!

"Clapping"

Well getting a video of the clapping has become my mission and I am failing miserably at it! Here is the best I could get....yes, this was also lasagna night!

Finn FUN Facts!

We hit a milestone this week and then when I was talking to one of my friends, I realized that there were a few other things I have neglected to fill everyone in on!

1) Waving and Clapping - Finn started finally waving and clapping about a month ago! He is very proud of his new tricks and it is just the cutest thing!

2) He loves balls! But now he can play ball with you! If you pull out a ball, he will wiggle his legs back and forth and wave his arms up and down and clap, he gets so excited and he just waits for you to roll/bounce it to him....he can catch it, which honestly, he catches better than I do, and then he will send it back to you and go back and forth! So much FUN!

3) He did his first sign this week! We try to do some sign language, and we aren't super great about it, but we try to do about 5-6 signs with him, the one we use the most is "more" where you touch the fingertips of both hands together. We can only give Finn about 3-4 pieces of food on his tray at a time because if you give him more he likes to shove them all in his mouth at once, then realizes he can't chew them and spits them all back out. So we can only give him a few at a time and then ask him if he wants "more". This week, when I asked "more" he started "clapping" but it isn't his usual clap, its slightly different and he only does it when his tray is empty and he wants "more"!!! It's just really, really exciting for us to see him do something other than laugh at us when we sign at him!

An apple a day....

Finn stole daddy's apple on their way out the door today! He took a pretty big bite out of it too!

I've seen this happen before and I wishI'd been faster to get to the camera, what you don't see here is how he got it to the point it is at at the start of the clip! Seriously hilarious, he worked really hard!

Vroom Vroom

So we normally have this toy propped up so he can walk behind it but this weekend I plopped it down and plopped him on and wheeled him around the house, he was laughing so hard, it was so much FUN! Though his face in these pics looks like a stink face! ha!

So mommy isn't so great at working the camera....while attempting to get footage of him lauging hysterically I missed it and when I thought I was stopping it I was actually starting it....turns out this was pretty cute too!

Hot for teacher!

Finn's got it bad, soooo bad.....for the teacher in the Brown Bear book! Every single time we get to the page with the teacher on it he starts kissing the book! Hopefully we won't be getting called to the principle's office for this in the years to come!

The Joys of Having a Bath!

One of Finn's favorites times of the day is Bath Time! Ever since he was newborn he has LOVED the bath! We've progressed from the sponge bath, to the infant tub, to the inflatable duck tub to now...the big boy tub! He has so much more room to splash around now....unfortunately he also has a lot more room to crawl around!

You Gotta Hydrate

Todd and Finn have started a weekly Saturday morning hike routine. This weekend they headed up to Kennesaw Mountain with Uncle Buzz where Finn saw his first deer! Finn made sure to hydrate before the big hike!

Spring Fling!

Todd took Finn down to the Kirkwood Spring Fling this past weekend where Finn got to test out....the grass! They went down with our friends Santiago and Matteo while mommy was working a wedding.
